Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi bets on electric car spike

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance is betting that mass-market drivers are going to soon turn to electric cars. The automakers announced plans to produce 12 new electric models by 2022, with the goal of electric vehicles making up 30% of its overall output. They also announced plans to make “robo-taxis,” driverless transport vehicles and autonomous cars aimed at middle-class consumers.
